Saint Macartan of Clogher

Profile

Macartan was a friend and disciple of Saint Patrick. He was the uncle of Saint Brigid. He was a missionary with Patrick through pagan Ireland. He was consecrated as the first bishop of Clogher, Ireland by Patrick in 454. He converted the father of Saint Tigernach of Clogher. He was a miracle worker.
