Saint Theodard of Maastricht

Profile

Theodard was a spiritual student of Saint Remaclus at Malmédy-Stavelot, Belgium. He became an abbot of Malmédy-Stavelot in 653 and a Bishop of Maastricht, Netherlands in 663. He was murdered by robbers in the forest of Bienwald near Speyer, Germany while on a journey undertaken in defense of his church.
